********The EastCoastDerby race schedule has changed!!!**********  The March race has been moved to Friday March 26th.  The April and May race times have moved from 5:00pm to 11:00am.  The May race will now be the triple points race and the season finale!  The National Championships will be held June 18th and 19th.

The March To The 2010 Pinewood Derby® National Championships™

Every year hundreds of thousands of 7" pieces of pinewood get cut and carved into wooden masterpieces.  They are sanded smooth and painted.  They Are outfitted with a pair of plastic wheels and then they are tweaked and tuned on until every ounce of gravity propelled speed can be squeezed from them.  They are then carefully transported to a Pinewood Derby race where they either claim their hard earned glory or they cause their maker to curse them and swear to build a true winner the next year!  The Pinewood Derby season comes and goes quickly with many left with an unsatisfied feeling and the dreary thoughts of waiting an entire year to take the track again.  There is no need to wait!!!

EastCoastDerby.com offers the chance for Pine wood Derby builders to race against the very best builders in the country!  The races welcome live participants and participation by proxy racing so builders all over the country can send in a car and race to claim the title of the FASTEST PINEWOOD DERBY® BUILDER in the Nation!  Check the SCHEDULE to see when the next event is.

4 Different Pinewood Derby® divisions to choose from.

EastCoastDerby.com runs 4 different classes to accommodate the most popular types of Pine wood Derby races that are participated in across the country.

• BSA Class / BSA Rookie Class
• Awana Class
• Pro Class
• Specialty Class (A different style of build each month)

The rules in each class are generalized to accommodate most Pinewood Derby cars that have already been built so you can bring a car you have or build a brand new one!

Rookie BSA Class for those that are new to Pinewood Derby league racing!

That's right!  ECD will now offer a special rookie division for those that are new to league racing to get their feet wet.  The rookie class will be limited to only the BSA class and those who compete in the rookie class are not eligible for the end of year overall championship.  This class is only meant for NEW racers.

CASH Prize for Overall Series Champion!

The overall series champion will win a cash prize of 25% of all entry fees paid!  Trophies will also be awarded to the different class champions.  Click here for the points structure.

Pinewood Derby® Races held live at the Pinewood Performance Shop!

The race will be held at:

The race will be held at the first location in the USA setup for the sole intent of Pinewood Derby® racing.  Located 10 minutes from a major airport and with plenty of hotel accommodations, it will be simple to make travel arrangements if you can join us live.  The event will also be broadcast live over the internet for the proxy racers to watch in and catch the action as it happens.  The race will be held on a state of the art 42' 4 lane Best Track with an 80" divided stopping section equipped with the ESS starting system by Jewkes Engineering to ensure a consistent fair race for all entrants.  We have raced Nationally for 3 years and have taken part and been trained by the Jewkes brothers and the PDDR racing league on the right way to conduct a race.  Proxy cars are handled with care and the races are run in an unbiased fashion.

Exciting Pinewood Derby® Racing Format

EastCoastDerby.com combines timed racing with the thrill of the head to head elimination style race.  All cars in each division compete in a time trial round consisting of 4 runs.  The 8 cars with the fastest average in each division move on to the semi-final round where they will be grouped into 2 groups of 4 and raced head to head.  The 2 fastest from each semi-final race moves to the final for a winner take all race.  The racing is fast and furious and the action will be intense.
